Match Review ACL Two Group G MD3 | Persib 2-0 Selangor FC

Selangor FC were forced to return home without any points from the Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium after falling 0-2 to Persib in the AFC Champions League Two (ACLTWO) Group G match yesterday.

Throughout the match, the Red and Yellow squad recorded 53% possession, completed 480 passes, and earned more corner kicks than their opponents, but were unable to capitalise on the opportunities created. The team managed to control the tempo of the game; however, a strike from Adam Alis in the 29th minute and a penalty from Andrew Jung in the 66th minute proved decisive for Persib’s victory.

Selangor FC Head Coach, Christophe Gamel accepted the defeat but remained determined to give his best until the end of the ACLTWO Group G campaign.

“To be honest, we are in this situation because we were not sharp enough. We created many chances throughout the match, but there’s no denying that their penalty goal made things more difficult for us. In addition, losing Noor Al-Rawabdeh to injury during the team’s final preparation affected our strategy and balance to some extent. However, that is not an excuse, we still need to defend better and work harder to get the results we want,” he stressed.

“I would also like to thank the fans who continue to support and share their passion with the team. After yesterday’s result, our chances of progressing may be slimmer, but we will keep fighting until the final Group G match, no matter what,” added Gamel.

Next, Selangor FC will face Kuala Lumpur City FC at the MBPJ Stadium, Kelana Jaya, on 26 October at 8:15pm. Get your tickets at: #SFCKLC

The Selangor FC management would like to thank all the fans who travelled to Indonesia to support the team. We rise again, Red Giants!
